There are a couple of variations of thigh lifts. A medial thigh lift is done to correct excessive skin on the inner aspect of the thigh while a lateral thigh lift is done to bring up the skin on the outer aspect of the thigh. Both procedures are commonly accompanied with liposuction. The medial thigh lift usually results in a "T" shaped scar on the inner aspect of the thigh with the horizontal component running along very close to the crease between the thigh and the pelvis and the vertical component on the mid aspect of the thigh. A lateral thigh lift is a similar to a buttock lift with the scar coming around the abdomen at the level of the waist line.
Although both operations are commonly performed as day surgery, most patients require at least a week off before being able to return to work.
